SGIA Expo highlights industry’s strength

Last month’s Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) Expo drew nearly 600 exhibitors and more than 19,000 attendees to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La., highlighting the strength of the industry.

“The SGIA Expo is the largest printing show in North America,” says Ford Bowers, SGIA’s president and CEO.

“It got so busy, we sold everything we brought, three times over,” says Daniel Kane, marketing manager for Royal Sovereign, which manufactures laminators for wide-format graphics.

SGIA also announced its next expo—scheduled for Oct. 18 to 20, 2018, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.—will be the last. Under a new joint venture with North American Publishing Company (NAPCO) Media, it will be replaced by a new show, Print United, starting in 2019.

“Print United will set the stage for sectors that are moving more and more into our orbit,” says Bowers.
