[1]Johnny Shell, vice-president (VP) of technical services for the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), has been named chair of the American Society for Testing and Materials’ (ASTM’s) new printing inks task group.
Task group D01.56, stemming from a committee for paints and related coatings, materials and applications, is charged with developing test methods and standardizations for printing inks and the preparation or surfaces to which such coatings are applied. Shell will organize the group, manage its activities and establish its missions and goals.
“With me serving as chair, SGIA can facilitate and ensure proper test methods for the inks our industry uses,” he explains. “This is an area that affects every print service provider (PSP) every day.”
