The Sign Association of Canada (SAC-ACE) has announced the cancellation of Sign Expo Canada (SEC) 2020.
In a quarterly meeting of the association’s board of directors, various options surrounding SAC Sign Expo Canada 2020 were discussed, and it has been decided the expo will not be held this year.
The official press release from the association states: “The SAC board believes cancelling SEC 2020 permits all of us to better plan and budget for the coming year. We’re pleased to announce we have tentatively secured dates for SEC 2021 and are working with the International Centre on finalizing the contract. Mark your calendars now for September 9–11, 2021 at the International Centre, Hall 5.”
“Our industry is full of entrepreneurs and sign professionals who bring creative solutions to challenges, so we don’t take cancelling lightly,” said Carl Weger, SAC-ACE president. “SEC is the life blood of SAC-ACE, and we owe our exhibitors and attendees the assurance that SEC would provide a safe and successful experience. With the current COVID-19-related health concerns, restrictions, and financial challenges, we felt it was better to focus on delivering an amazing, innovative, and world-class event in 2021. We look forward to welcoming everyone back then.”
“One of our association’s core missions is to create a platform for the sign, graphics, and visual communications industry to gather and conduct business,” said Karin Eaton, SAC-ACE executive director. “Based on our conversations with members and exhibitors, as well as our observations of the current economic climate and the ever-changing government regulations, we are not confident we can deliver the exceptional experience the industry deserves. We want our trade show to be the pre-eminent networking, learning, and business building experience for the Canadian sign industry, and we look forward to delivering that in 2021.”
