Gemini, which manufactures sign letters, logos and plaques in Neustadt, Ont., and elsewhere, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The company began operations in 1963, specializing in the manufacture of vacuum-formed plastic products. Under the ownership of Jim and Sharon Weinel, it became involved in the sign industry in 1966 with the introduction of plastic letters.
Gemini’s original headquarters (HQ) in St. Louis Park, Minn., were destroyed by a fire in 1968, but the company recovered, expanded and moved its operations to Cannon Falls, Minn., by 1972. Formed plastic letters were followed by injection-moulded and laser-cut acrylic letters, cast, flat-cut and fabricated metal letters and cast, etched plaques for accessibility and wayfinding sign systems. Today, Gemini has seven plants.
“Celebrating 50 years is very gratifying,” says Frederick Oss, president. “We would like to thank our loyal customers.”
