Signmaker races to contest’s finish line

Mark Caron, owner of MHC Sign and Design, won the grand prize in Roland DGA’s ‘Born to Wrap’ Race Experience Challenge—an all-expense paid trip to North Carolina, including tickets to two National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) Sprint Cup races at Charlotte Motor Speedway and a VIP tour of Richard Childress Racing’s (RCR’s) graphics facility in nearby Welcome.
Caron, based in Payson, Utah, won the contest in August 2012 when his testimonial was judged the “most compelling” of all the entries submitted through Roland’s Born To Wrap page on Facebook. The racing fan’s dream came true when he and his wife Tera flew to Charlotte, N.C., in October and got to meet famous NASCAR drivers like Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick.
“We have always been huge NASCAR fans, but never thought we’d have a chance to actually attend the races in Charlotte, let alone meet some of the top pros,” says Caron. “Being so close to the action was an experience we’ll never forget. We also had the privilege of seeing how the RCR graphics centre team works their vehicle-wrap magic. It was all incredible.”
RCR uses several Roland eco-solvent-based inkjet printers to produce graphics for 10 professional drivers, including Burton and Harvick, and representing nearly 100 sponsors. The team’s wrap design and installation facility is one of the largest and busiest in the racing industry.
