Smart phone as sign? Newad zooms in on Nokia

Montreal-based out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm Newad has installed giant replicas of the Nokia Lumia 1020 smart phone across its restaurant, bar and campus networks in Vancouver and Montreal.

Created in collaboration with ad agency MO:PR, the indoor ads are positioned in more than 60 establishments, displaying a message inviting passersby to look into a camera lens. When they do, they can have photos taken by a high-resolution camera, illustrating the capabilities of the Lumia 1020’s zoom feature.

“The Lumia 1020 is the only smart phone with a 41-megapixel camera sensor, so we wanted a campaign that would fully promote this feature,” says Sébastien Voyer, MO:PR’s account manager for Nokia. “Newad enabled the design of an interactive medium that lets users experiment with and experience the possibilities of the zoom.”
