[1]Source for Sports stores across Canada are deploying customized digital signage using plug-and-play technology from Charlottetown-based software developer ScreenScape and information technology (IT) hardware manufacturer Dell.
As a national buying group with 156 independently owned and operated retail locations, Source for Sports does not take a ‘cookie-cutter’ approach to marketing. No two stores are alike, so promotional materials must be tailored to each location’s specific needs, which has presented digital signage challenges in the past in terms of content development and setup costs.
The retailer is now using Dell’s Wyse Cloud Connect compact devices and cloud-based ScreenScape software at 50 of its stores to turn existing TVs into digital signs, featuring content customized at head office for each location.
“Our local store owners can have streaming content running in minutes by simply plugging the devices into their TVs,” says Paul La Vigne (pictured), Source for Sports’ director of marketing. “They are thrilled not only with the simplicity of the system, but also the value-add. An average 45-minute skate fitting, for instance, presents a great opportunity to share offers that can boost sales. We can also showcase the success of local teams to demonstrate our commitment to the community.”
The chain’s other 106 stores are slated to implement the same technology in the near future.
