The Digital Screenmedia Association (DSA) has honoured a flagship Sport Chek store in Toronto with a digital signage integration award. The announcement was part of an industry excellence awards dinner during a recent DSA symposium.
The store, which was unveiled to customers in January, has been designed as a test bed for retail innovations that will start to be rolled out to other locations later this year. Located on Toronto’s Yonge Street, it features 140 digital screens, including thin-bezel ‘tiles,’ touch screens and custom-built table displays.
A series of three 1.4-m (55-in.) touch screens, for example, form a video wall that showcases athletic footwear. A Reebok kiosk even lets customers design their own shoes, to be shipped to their homes later. And the store’s façade supports 1.5 x 9.8-m (5 x 32-ft) digital projections.
Telus Digital Signage submitted the ‘retail lab’ project to DSA’s annual awards competition on behalf of its client, FGL Sports, a national sporting goods retailer that operates under a number of brands, including Sport Chek.
