ikea1[1]The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) recently held its 2014 Obie Awards, which recognize excellence in out-of-home (OOH) advertising campaigns, and several Canadian agencies were among the winners.

Leo Burnett Toronto won a gold Obie in the international category for its work on furniture retailer Ikea’s ‘There’s a Page for That’ campaign (pictured). The agency used billboards to suggest personal, emotional connections to the launch of Ikea’s well-known catalogue.

Toronto-based Zulu Alpha Kilo also won a gold Obie in the international category for its work with Courage Canada, a charitable organization that helps visually impaired Canadians learn and play hockey. Prominently featuring braille dots, indoor posters raised awareness of Courage Canada’s annual tournament at Maple Leaf Gardens.

A third Gold Obie went to BBDO Toronto for a Molson Coors campaign for Newcastle Ale.
