IMG_5147[1]A new study by InfoTrends, an international market research and strategic consulting firm for the printing industry, seeks to analyze key market trends driving the demand for digitally printed applications, so as to gain insight into who buys wide-format graphics.

InfoTrends reports digital wide-format printing continues to grow not only because new devices are enabling the production of more diverse, innovative applications, but also because signs and display graphics still represent a new, major opportunity for many print service providers (PSPs) as an integral part of the overall marketing communications mix. For the study, the company will conduct surveys of and interviews with both PSPs in the wide-format sector and their customers.

As these customers span a range of vertical industries, they have different needs, which the study will explore. In addition, InfoTrends will consider how sign shops, commercial printing companies, reprographic shops, screenprinting companies and copy shops are posed to meet these needs, as well as scenarios where clients set up their own in-house wide-format printing operations.

The final report will evaluate these trends and opportunities across five main vertical markets, as determined by its participants. The study will also identify wide-format graphic pricing trends, the effects of online ordering on the industry, buyers’ top purchasing criteria, the role of wide-format graphics in cross-media campaigns and the implications of digital signage.
