Tennis-themed mural prepares Montreal for Rogers Cup
Kashink, a muralist based in Paris, France, recently visited Canada to undertake a massive tennis-themed fresco in Montreal, as part of the Mural Festival and to help Newad promote the next edition of the Rogers Cup.
Rogers, a telecommunications provider, hired Montreal-based out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm Newad to market the launch of the city’s tennis season. As part of this campaign, Rogers sponsored Kashink’s mural, Found It! (pictured left), on a smooth, windowless, five-storey building façade adjacent to a parking lot on Saint Laurent Boulevard near Sherbrook Street, which has become central to the annual Mural Festival. The artwork took 10 days to paint.
“I feel privileged to create forms and subjects that inspire me on such a large surface,” says Kashink (pictured right), who—as one of the few women recognized in the male-dominated street art community—draws a moustache on her own face to address social issues in a fun manner.
The Rogers Cup will be held from August 1 to 10 at Uniprix Stadium.
