The latest in latex

HP Latex 3000 Printer Front Output copyHP Canada has launched the Latex 3000 printer, featuring the company’s third generation of durable aqueous ‘latex’ inks.

The inks contain a new scratch-resistant agent, reportedly comparable to hard solvent-based inks on self-adhesive vinyl and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) banner substrates, and are accompanied by an ‘optimizer’ cationic agent, which helps immobilize pigments chemically on the surface of the print. Also, as the inks print and cure faster and at a lower temperature than previous versions, they provide better colour consistency and can be printed onto heat-sensitive media.

Equipped with more than 70,000 nozzles, the Latex 3000 can reportedly print up to 77 m2 (830 sf) of graphics per hour at indoor quality.
