Jigsaw Imaging in Mississauga, Ont., has purchased an HP Scitex FB500 industrial printer from reseller Access Imaging to help enhance its performance in producing high-quality, large-format graphics.
“After assessing Jigsaw’s needs, the two key features we looked for were the ability to print on flexible and rigid materials and faster turnaround times,” says Charbel Abi-Najem, sales manager for Access.
Formerly known as Rainbow Digital Imaging, the print service provider (PSP) has been in business since 1980, producing banners, vehicle wraps, signs, window graphics, directories, posters, floor graphics, menu boards, exhibits, table wraps and wall murals.
One of the biggest selling points of the FB500 was its continuous feed feature.
“We’re able to print and load simultaneously,” says John Spear, president. “When we put substrates down on the printer’s table, while one is feeding, we can get the next one ready. We don’t lose any time between pieces. This has helped speed up the delivery of orders.”
The newly installed 1.6-m (64-in.) wide printer can reportedly produce up to 37 m2 (398 sf) of output per hour. It has also allowed Jigsaw to print on a wider variety of materials and offer new services to customers.
“We can now produce prints on corrugated and translucent materials, which we were unable to do prior to the installation,” says Spear. “This is an attractive offering to many new and existing customers. We recently won a large contract, for example, to print a company’s corrugated boxes.”
