Textile Image, a new division of The Flag Shop in Kitsilano, B.C., has installed a Scitex LX850 printer from HP Canada, as it continues its transition from screenprinting to digital printing on textiles.

“We were hoping to find a grand-format printer that could print on vinyl scrim, mesh and textiles,” says Susan Braverman, president. “So, we wanted this particular latex inkjet printer for its versatility. We’re now able to print on large-format scrim, which we used to outsource, as well as on fabric and on mesh to cover fences or create special banners for windy environments.”

Textile Image specializes in soft signage for sporting events, municipalities, trade shows, conventions, special events and shopping centres. More of its clients are interested in grand-format prints, rather than see a seam running down the middle of their banner or backdrop.

“We hate compromising a client’s design,” says Braverman. “The LX850 can produce banners without those seams in the middle. And the finishing process is reduced considerably, compared to dye sublimation, resulting in a decrease in our turnaround times.”
