Three finalists selected for Burlington, Ont., pool mural project

The city of Burlington, Ont., has selected three finalists for an upcoming mural project at the soon-to-be revitalized Mountainside Pool. The public is now invited to comment on which design they believe is the best fit for the facility.

The three shortlisted submissions and artists are:

• Take a Step by Clear Eyes Collective
• The Woodlot’s Edge Through Our Children’s Lens by Megan Oldhues
• Currents by Jomae

 

The artists have created preliminary designs to help visualize their concepts in the poolside space. Their technical proposals, along with submitted comments from Burlington residents, will contribute to the project steering committee’s final decision. Anyone interested in sharing their feedback is encouraged to do so on the city’s project page before Feb. 20.

“I’d like to thank the 45 artists and groups who submitted a proposal for this project—and thank you to the steering committee, who had no easy task narrowing the amazing submissions down to three final artists,” says Angela Paparizo, the city’s manager of arts and culture. “We’re excited for the finalist to design and create a beautiful mural for the revitalized Mountainside Pool. But, first, we are asking the community to share their thoughts on these three final designs. This will help us select the right artist for this project.”
