The city of Toronto has issued an apology and taken steps to correct some of its new bike path signs, after the public pointed out a series of glaring typos.

According to a report from CP24, the erroneous wayfinding signs were among a collection of 500 installed throughout the city last month.

Among the misspelled signs were two that read “Lake Shore Trial” and “Lake Share Trail,” and another that indicated the distance from Danforth and Greenwood Avenues to “Downton.”

In a statement provided to CP24, the city said these types of errors are “rare,” and replacement signs will be issued in the designated areas by the end of the week. They also attributed the mistakes to “human error in the proofreading process.”

“The city apologizes for the oversight that led to the misspelled signs,” the statement continued. “We are actively reviewing and reinforcing our internal protocols to ensure a more robust system is in place to catch such errors before signs are installed.”
