As it approaches its 100th anniversary, Toronto’s Crescent School for boys is embracing dynamic communications on campus with the installation of a new digital signage network to keep students updated and informed.
Founded in 1913, Crescent School is using screens in five key areas to offer information about everything from bus schedules and house standings to news and announcements. Emergency alerts can be broadcast instantly if needed.
The school has also invested in training students to manage and run the network on a daily basis.
“We emphasize the importance of getting students involved and taking ownership in the network,” says Andy McRae, general manager (GM) of Toronto-based Dot2Dot Communications, which set up the school’s screens with Scala software and hosted a two-day workshop with hands-on training for students and staff alike.
“We control the look and feel of the content,” says Stephen Belyea, Grade 12 student and communications prefect. “Both students and faculty are keen to get their announcements on the screens. From school sports results to charity fundraiser reminders, ‘Crescent TV’ is definitely having an impact.”
