The Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC’s) January 2018 Metropass celebrates a street mural painted in 2014 by professional graffiti artist Omen to honour the history of the Scarborough Junction neighbourhood.
The mural was one of the first projects in the city’s ongoing StreetArToronto Underpass Program (START UP). Omen worked with arts organization Mural Routes and local councillor Michelle Holland to ensure the design met community consultation standards.
The TTC reports the January monthly pass is the first in a planned series, which will profile numerous street art projects that have become integral parts of Toronto’s urban streetscape.
