The Flight Gallery at Halifax’s Discovery Centre and Montreal’s Escales Découvertes (Discovery Halts) are the only Canadian projects among the winners of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design’s (SEGD’s) 2018 Global Design Awards.
The Flight Gallery won a merit award in the exhibition category. The permanent exhibit, which explores science through aircraft flight and maintenance, is part of the Discovery Centre’s new waterfront site. The jury appreciated its engaging, easy-to-understand and interactive graphics.
Discovery Halts, a series of maps, plaques and markers installed throughout Mont-Royal Park to celebrate Montreal’s 375th anniversary, won an honour award in the placemaking and identity category. The jury praised its integration with the natural environment.
SEGD announced all of this year’s winners during its annual conference earlier this month in Minneapolis, Minn.
