Urinal screen campaign wins OOH award

TelusgamingMontreal-based Zoom Media, along with ad agency partners Taxi and Cossette, won an award in the small-format/digital category of the Ad Club of Toronto’s annual out-of-home (OOH) showdown on October 9 with their work on a Telus interactive urinal game.

The campaign featured a high-definition (HD) screen fitted at eye level above urinals that switched into game mode upon detecting an approaching customer. A laser beam then detected his movement and the direction of his ‘stream,’ allowing him to control a virtual soccer ball by aiming, with the goal of getting the ball past a panda goalie to score points.

“Turning urinals into gaming consoles was an effective approach in reaching an audience during the 2014 World Cup,” says Chris Corvetti, director of sales and media integration for Zoom Media.
