Vancouver-based sign installer wins ‘40 Under 40’ award

Chris Davies, president and CEO of Chris’s Sign Service and Westcan Lighting, has been named to Business in Vancouver’s ’40 Under 40’ list, which highlights the achievements of British Columbia’s young entrepreneurs, executives, managers and professionals.

Born in Murrayville, B.C., Davies bought his grandfather’s fluorescent lighting company and combined it with sign installation services in the mid-1990s. Since then, Chris’s Sign Service has become one of Western Canada’s biggest sign companies, with 29 employees in Langley, B.C,., part of Metro Vancouver. The company and its Westcan division are focusing heavily on the use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

“I want it to become the number one sign and lighting service provider in all of Canada,” Davies told Business in Vancouver, citing plans to expand Westcan eastward to Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
