Lamar Advertising has launched what it calls British Columbia’s first ‘virtual shopping’ wall mural at Vancouver City Centre Station, as part of an interactive campaign for Shoeme.ca, a Canadian online shoe retailer.
The billboard is installed in a high-traffic area of the SkyTrain station, part of the Canada Line. Passersby can scan product-specific Quick Response (QR) codes on the mural with their smartphones and buy shoes in less than a minute. The station reportedly sees an average of more than 97,000 passengers each week.
“For an e-commerce retailer, this installation gives us a way not only to build awareness, but also drive online transactions,” says Curtis Peterson, chief marketing officer (CMO) for Shoeme.ca.
The campaign debuted at the beginning of November and will continue into 2015, with regular updates of the advertised footwear to reflect changing seasons and fashion styles.
