With a new campaign for Telus, Lamar Advertising of British Columbia has launched Vancouver’s first full wrap of a public bus to be enhanced with free Wi-Fi service for its passengers, allowing them to surf the Internet on their mobile devices while they commute.
In a pilot project that started in August and will run for six months, three buses have been wrapped inside and outside with Telus’ logo, the free Wi-Fi announcement and graphics of pigs with wings. The goal is to promote Telus’ wireless and Internet services in the Metro Vancouver area.
“This is a unique transit advertising initiative in Vancouver,” says Byron Montgomery, Lamar’s regional vice-president (VP) and general manager (GM). “Telus is always striving to break new ground when it comes to marketing. Wi-Fi buses were a natural fit for the brand.”
