The district of West Vancouver has partnered with Pattison Outdoor, a national out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm, to design new bus shelters, which are planned for construction this summer and installation in the fall.
The deal will provide 30 new shelters, with the local government receiving a percentage of revenue from ad sales. Over the span of a 20-year agreement, the approximate value to the district is more than $2 million.
Pattison will build, install and maintain the contemporary shelters on Marine Drive from the Lions Gate Bridge to Dundarave and at select stops in Horseshoe Bay.
“These shelters have been custom-designed for the municipality,” says Raymond Fung, the district’s director of engineering and transportation. “We want to provide protection from the elements and enhance accessibility for all transit riders.”
The shelters will also feature low-energy lighting and recycled content in their bench seating.
