Whistler’s wrapped ATM returns with a ‘twist’

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce’s (CIBC’s) graphic-wrapped ski-thru automated teller machine (ATM) has returned to British Columbia’s Whistler Blackcomb resort with an added feature: a 0.9-m (3-ft) tall animatronic penguin.

Perched above the 2.6-m (8.5-ft) tall ATM, the three-dimensional (3-D) penguin spins whenever anyone tweets to @CIBC with the hashtag #SkiThruATM. For every such tweet, CIBC will donate $1 to Alpine Canada to support three national ski teams—Canadian Alpine, Para Alpine and Ski Cross—up to a total of $10,000.

CIBC introduced the world’s first ski-thru ATM near Whistler Mountain’s Roundhouse Lodge last year, complete with ski pole and glove holders and heating lamp, as part of a new five-year partnership with the resort.
