Maxim Derhak, principal colour scientist for wide-format printing raster image processor (RIP) software developer Onyx Graphics, was recently honoured with a major industry award and a patent for establishing ink use in process channels.
Derhak, who is also co-chair of the International Color Consortium (ICC), won the MacBeth Award from the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) for his work on spectral colour reproduction in the graphic arts industry. The award will be presented in November at the Society for Imaging Science and Technology’s (IST’s) Color and Imaging Conference (CIC) in San Diego, Calif.
Meanwhile, the patent Derhak submitted in 2011 was awarded this summer. It covers technology that enables automatic ink restrictions, which can lead to more efficient colour profiles and ink use.
