Canada’s largest printing company, Transcontinental, has installed an Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 roll-to-roll solvent-based inkjet printer from Fujifilm Canada at its Quebec City facility, in an effort to expand services into the wide-format market.
The Quebec location has traditionally specialized in sheet-fed commercial printing, with five multi-colour presses and a staff of 160 employees. In the last year, it has also established a digital printing division, starting with the use of an industrial digital toner press and an ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) flatbed printer.
The Stylus Pro GS6000 will help Transcontinental Quebec continue to expand its gamut of print services for existing clients. The 1.6-m (64-in.) wide printer uses UltraChrome GS nickel-free inks to produce outdoor-durable commercial graphics—including vehicle wraps, fine art reproductions, banners, photographic posters and trade show graphics—in eight colours, including new orange and green hues. With significantly reduced volatile organic compounds (VOCs), there is no need for external dryers or air purification systems.
