Ontario transport agency Metrolinx has commissioned artist Alex McLeod to create the world’s largest digitally printed mural, which will decorate the noise barriers for its Davenport Diamond Gateway, a new commuter rail overpass structure planned for Toronto’s west end.

The mural, titled Secret Park Gate (partial rendering pictured), comprises six distinct landscape scenes (see video). It will run along the entire length of the 1.4-km (0.9-mi) guideway, which is scheduled to open in 2022.

Metrolinx issued an open call for artists’ entries in spring 2017. The competition received a total of 315 applications, which were reviewed by an independent panel of experts, including residents of the community.
