Yukon’s only movie theatre is now ready for its close-up, sporting revitalized and brilliantly lit red neon signs.

A collaboration between the Yukon Film Society and B.C.-based shops Concept Neon and Tops Lighting, the project involved repainting the signs on the exterior of the Yukon Theatre building and replacing the power supplies and the glass, so the letters would be lit evenly and consistently—something that had not happened for several years.

Concept Neon had previously visited the theatre to trace out the letters that needed the new components, which they fabricated at their shop in Vancouver. The required sign pieces were then delivered to the site for the installation.

Now shining in a brilliant neon red, the signage will be in perfect shape for the theatre’s 70th anniversary celebrations throughout 2024.
